Smart Bangladesh needs Smart scientists: Dr. Dipu Moni
Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni highlighted the need for smart technicians, scientists and researchers for Smart Bangladesh. She said, 'Then sustainable development of the country will be accelerated; so more science practice and research should be increased for Smart Bangladesh'.
The Minister commented that Jessore University of Science and Technology- JUST is playing a leading role in this regard.
The Minister of Education made this comment during the two-day international conference titled 'Nano-Bio and Advanced Materials Engineering (NAME-2023)' organized by the Department of JChemical Engineering(CHE) in Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) in tourist city Cox's Bazar on Sunday afternoon.
Dr. Deepu Moni said, research has to be done, innovation has to be done and it has to be commercialized. I did it for research, it can't be done. The more such conferences, the more mutual cooperation increases, the more we will be enriched in scientific research. She said, now we are in humanitarian Bangladesh. Maybe we don't have that much financial capacity like the developed world. But hopefully, we can maintain humanity and build a smart Bangladesh under the leadership of leader Sheikh Hasina.
The JUST Vice-chancellor and Ekushey Medalist Professor Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain also spoke at the closing ceremony. He said, nanotechnology is now a very well-known technology all over the world. Jashore University of Science and Technology has been working on this technology for a long time. We have shown 'Nano is Beauty, Nano is Power.'
Professor of Tohoku University of Japan Dr. Tadahiro Komeda said, Bangladeshi teachers, students and researchers are very hardworking. In Japan, they showed this hard work. He also said that Bangladeshi students have the opportunity to participate in research in his country.
The convener of the conference preparation committee Dr Zaved Hossain Khan presided over the closing ceremony. About 250 teachers-students and researchers from the United States, Spain, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, India, and the United Arab Emirates were present at the ceremony. In the conference, teachers-students and researchers from different disciplines presented about 152 articles and posters on various topics including 'Advanced Materials for Energy, Food Safety and Management, Nano Electronics and Photonics, Nano-Technology and Microbiology, Environment and Materials Science, Bio Materials and Medical Devices'. Special awards were given to the best essay and research poster presenters at the closing ceremony. The guests thanked the organizers for organizing such a conference on the world's largest beach for the purpose of creating research links and correspondence between the teachers-students and researchers of the country and abroad.
Meanwhile, at the end of the conference, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the JUST and Sunway University of Malaysia. Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain, the Vice-Chancellor of the University on behalf of JUST and Professor Dr. Sibrandes Poppema, on behalf of and Sanway University, signed the MoU. At this time, the Minister of Education Dr. Dipu Moni was present.
